The HERTEL H59873430 is a cermet uncoated boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built to TDHB insert style specifications with a 60-degree triangular geometry, this insert carries material grade C8 and manufacturer grade HT630B. Key cutting geometry includes a 0.007-inch corner radius, a 5/32-inch (0.1563-inch) inscribed circle, and a thickness of 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch). The 15-degree relief angle reduces cutting forces and minimizes tool rubbing on finish cuts. Cermet construction provides excellent wear resistance and surface finish performance on steels and cast irons at moderate cutting speeds. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible boring bars for tight-tolerance internal diameter work.
This insert is suited for finish and semi-finish boring of ferrous materials in both production and job-shop environments. The uncoated cermet substrate performs well where consistent surface finish is the priority over aggressive material removal. Screw-on insert holding method ensures secure, repeatable seating in TDHB-style boring bar pockets. It is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for stocking in tool cribs or machine shop inventory.
Designed for use in TDHB-style boring bar insert pockets accepting a 60-degree triangular cermet insert with a 5/32-inch inscribed circle and screw-on holding method.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screw to seat the insert without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert to maintain cutting geometry accuracy.
