The HERTEL H59873125 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. This insert uses a CDHH style seat with an 80-degree diamond shape, a 5/32-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.007-inch corner radius, making it well-suited for tight-tolerance bore finishing passes. The HC620B grade substrate is coated via CVD with a multilayer TiN, TiC, TiCN, TiN sequence, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. At 0.04 inches thick with a 15-degree relief angle, it delivers clearance for light to medium boring cuts in a right-hand configuration. Machinists and CNC toolroom techs are the typical installers.
This insert is intended for boring applications requiring a sharp, coated carbide edge on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The 80-degree diamond geometry limits the insert to specific boring bar holders designed for CDHH-style seats. The C7 material grade makes it appropriate for finish boring of cast iron, steel alloys, and similar materials where thermal coating performance matters. It is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, suiting shop restocking and production tooling programs.
Designed for use in boring bars and toolholders that accept CDHH-style inserts with a 5/32-inch inscribed circle and screw-mount retention. Verify insert size code 1.20.60.5 against your toolholder specification before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians following standard insert-change procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is locked and all power is isolated before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the retention screw to avoid over-tightening, which can crack the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
