The HERTEL H59872903 is a cermet uncoated boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to the CDHB insert style with an 80-degree diamond shape, it delivers a stable cutting geometry suited to fine finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Key cutting parameters include a 0.007-inch corner radius for sharp, controlled surface finishes and a 15-degree relief angle that reduces cutting forces on the workpiece. The insert seats via screw-holding method and carries a material grade designation of C8, corresponding to the manufacturer grade HT630B. It is sold individually but subject to a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
This insert is intended for boring and internal turning applications where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. It is appropriate for use in light to medium finishing cuts in machining environments serviced by toolroom machinists, CNC operators, and maintenance machining professionals. The cermet substrate without coating makes it well suited to dry or minimal-lubrication finishing of steels and cast irons at moderate to high cutting speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit boring insert for CDHB-style insert toolholders accepting an 80-degree diamond insert with a 5/32-inch inscribed circle and screw-clamp holding. Verify toolholder seat geometry, insert size code, and relief angle before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid seat damage. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures for insert handling and disposal of worn cutting tools.
