The HERTEL H59869396 is a solid carbide indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built to toolholder style HBBF, this right-hand-cut bar features a 5/16-inch shank diameter and an overall length of 6 inches, giving it the rigidity needed for accurate, repeatable bore geometry. The bar accepts TD-style inserts secured by a screw-clamping method, and coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in demanding materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments install this bar as a standard indexable solution for small-diameter bore work.
This boring bar is suited for right-hand internal boring operations where a minimum bore diameter of 0.36 inches must be maintained. Maximum bore depth reaches 3-1/8 inches, making it applicable to a range of through-bore and blind-bore configurations in metal cutting. The coolant-through design is especially useful in deep-bore scenarios where flood coolant alone cannot adequately reach the cutting zone. It is intended for use in fixed tooling setups on CNC turning equipment across both production and prototype machining applications.
Designed to accept TD-style inserts using a screw-holding method; compatible insert selection should be verified against the HBBF toolholder style and the specific bore diameter and depth requirements of the application.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with indexable boring bar setups. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret or toolpost is de-energized before mounting or changing inserts. Set shank clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder specifications, and verify bore alignment with a dial indicator before engaging the cut. Follow the insert manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the selected TD-style insert grade and workpiece material.
