The HERTEL H08707598 is a laydown-style threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting on CNC lathes and threading machines. Built from solid carbide with a TiC/TiN coating, this insert delivers consistent thread form and wear resistance across high-volume production runs. It carries a 16ER insert style designation and an HG330TR grade, making it a direct specification for shops sourcing to that grade standard. Key parameters are 10 threads per inch, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a thickness of 0.146 inches. The right-hand cutting geometry produces external UN threads in a single-point threading operation. Installation and indexing are performed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for external threading operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where UN thread standards are required. The 16ER style seats into compatible laydown threading toolholders. With a 10 TPI thread pitch, it is commonly applied to threading medium-diameter workpieces in general metalworking, maintenance repair, and precision part production. The TiC/TiN finish extends tool life in interrupted-cut and continuous threading cycles. Individual inserts are packaged as single units with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in laydown threading toolholders accepting the 16ER insert style. Compatible with systems requiring external UN thread inserts at 10 TPI. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing any insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder specification — do not use impact drivers. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and thread geometry accuracy.
