The HERTEL H08702375 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal partial profile 60-degree thread forms. Manufactured to the 16IR insert style, it carries a TiC/TiN multilayer coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance during threading operations. With a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.146 inches, this insert fits standard 16IR toolholders used on CNC lathes and manual threading equipment. It covers a pitch range of 0.50 to 3.00 mm (48-8 TPI) and is ground with a zero-degree relief angle, making it suited for precision internal threading across a broad range of thread pitches. Installation is performed by machinists and tool and die technicians.
This insert is applied in internal threading operations on CNC turning centers, engine lathes, and manual lathes where a right-hand 60-degree partial profile thread form is required. The 48 to 8 TPI range makes it versatile for threading bores in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials across both production and job-shop environments. The TiC/TiN finish provides added tool life in continuous and light interrupted cuts on internal threading passes. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 16IR-style laydown threading insert pockets on boring bars and internal threading toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.146 inch thickness.
Threading inserts should be installed and changed by qualified machinists following safe toolchanging procedures. Power down the machine and engage the spindle lock before seating or removing inserts. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping screw to secure the insert without over-torquing the pocket. Verify insert seating and tool stick-out against the programmed tool offset before resuming cutting operations.
