The HERTEL H08700197 is an internal, right-hand indexable threading toolholder designed for cutting internal threads on lathes and turning centers. Built in the HSIR style, it accepts 11IR inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method, providing repeatable positioning across indexing cycles. The toolholder features a 5/8-inch (0.6250-inch decimal) shank diameter, a 5.5-inch overall length, and a minimum bore diameter of 0.5800 inches, making it suitable for threading bores in a range of workpiece diameters. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators working in job shop, production, or maintenance environments are the primary installers of this tool.
This toolholder is applied in internal threading operations where consistent thread form and insert repeatability are required. The HSIR series configuration is commonly used on CNC lathes and manual engine lathes equipped with tool turrets or boring bar holders. With a neck diameter of 0.5000 inches and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 0.5800 inches, it is well suited for threading bores that require clearance between the shank body and the bore wall. The 0.3400-inch center-to-cutting-edge dimension supports precise thread positioning relative to the workpiece centerline.
Compatible with 11IR threading inserts having a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use toolholder for lathes and turning centers that accept 5/8-inch boring bar or tool block setups using HSIR-series holders.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC lathe operators. Before mounting, confirm the machine is in an E-stop or locked-out state per your facility lockout-tagout procedure. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder block or turret station and torque the clamping screws to the machine or toolblock manufacturer specification. Verify insert seating and screw torque on the 11IR insert before initiating any cutting cycle.
