The HERTEL H05768148 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal Stub Acme threading operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured to the 22ER insert style and graded HG330TR, it carries a TiC/TiN coating that improves wear resistance and extends tool life in moderate-to-hard workpiece materials. The insert is configured for right-hand cutting with a 5 threads-per-inch (TPI) pitch and a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. A relief angle of 1 degree supports clean thread form on Stub Acme profiles. This insert is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC operators performing precision threading work.
This insert is suited for shops producing threaded components that require Stub Acme thread forms, commonly found in power-transmission hardware, lead screws, and linear-motion assemblies. The internal thread configuration makes it appropriate for boring bars and internal threading toolholders used in both production and job-shop environments. The solid carbide substrate handles interrupted cuts and tougher alloys better than cermet alternatives, making it a practical choice for steel and stainless threading applications.
Designed for use in internal threading toolholders and boring bars that accept the 22ER laydown insert style with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle.
Installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and all axes locked before indexing or swapping inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without cracking the carbide. Verify thread pitch and insert orientation against the job setup sheet before resuming cutting operations. Inspect the insert seating pocket for chips or debris prior to installation to ensure proper insert contact and thread form accuracy.
