The HERTEL H-81186020600 is a size 2 combination drill and countersink made from cobalt high-speed steel, designed for simultaneous center drilling and countersinking in a single operation. The tool features a 3/16 inch body diameter, a 5/64 inch drill point diameter, and an overall length of 6 inches, placing it in the long-length category. The 118-degree drill point angle and 60-degree included countersink angle are ground to standard tolerances. Cobalt construction provides improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS, making it suitable for harder workpiece materials and higher-cycle production environments. The bright polished finish leaves the cutting geometry uncoated for direct metal-to-metal contact.
This combination drill countersink is used in metalworking applications where a center hole and chamfer are required in one pass. Typical applications include lathe center preparation, pre-spotting for twist drills, and chamfering fastener clearance holes. The plain cutting edge style and double-end configuration make it a practical choice for general machine shop use, production floors, and toolroom work on steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. The long overall length accommodates setups with limited reach from the spindle face.
Designed as a standard size 2 combo drill countersink compatible with drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers that accept straight-shank tooling in the appropriate collet or chuck.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is de-energized before loading or removing the tool from the chuck or collet. Secure the workpiece firmly before beginning the cut, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to maintain tool life. Do not exceed the recommended RPM range for the tool diameter and material combination.
