The HERTEL F.901.3810 is a reduced shank drill bit designed for drilling large-diameter holes in metal, wood, and general-purpose materials. The bit features a 1.5-inch cutting diameter paired with a 3/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to be chucked in standard drill presses and machines that cannot accommodate a full 1.5-inch shank. Constructed from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, the F.901.3810 offers solid wear resistance for production and maintenance drilling tasks. The 118-degree point angle suits general-purpose drilling across a wide range of workpiece materials. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers of this bit.
This reduced shank drill bit is suited for use in drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers where a 3/4-inch chuck capacity limits full-shank large-diameter bits. With a 6-inch overall length, a 3-inch flute length, and a maximum drilling depth of 3 inches, the F.901.3810 handles through-hole and blind-hole operations in light fabrication, maintenance repair, and general shop environments. It is appropriate for both production runs and one-off maintenance drilling where a 1.5-inch diameter is required.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and machining centers equipped with a 3/4-inch or larger chuck or collet.
This bit is installed by machinists and maintenance mechanics using standard drill press or machine tool chucks rated for 3/4-inch shank tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck with appropriate chuck keys to prevent slippage under the torque loads generated by a 1.5-inch diameter cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce heat buildup and prolong cutting edge life.
