The HERTEL F.901.2223 is a reduced shank drill bit designed for general-purpose metal and material drilling where the hole diameter exceeds the available spindle collet size. The bit measures 0.8750 inches in diameter with a 3/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to chuck into standard 3/4-inch capacity drill presses and machining setups. The 118-degree split point is a conventional general-purpose geometry suited for a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Constructed from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, this bit offers solid wear resistance for production and maintenance drilling environments. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the typical end users.
This drill bit fits production drilling, fabrication shops, and maintenance repair operations where 7/8-inch holes are required but only 3/4-inch shank capacity is available at the spindle. The reduced shank design eliminates the need for a larger drill press or specialized chuck. With a 3-inch flute length and a maximum drilling depth of 3.0 inches, it handles standard through-hole and moderate-depth blind-hole applications in mild steel, aluminum, plastics, and similar workpiece materials. Overall length of 6.0 inches provides adequate clearance in most drill press and milling machine setups.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with drill presses, milling machines, and lathe tailstocks equipped with 3/4-inch capacity chucks or collets. Suitable for general-purpose drilling in mild steel, aluminum, plastics, and similar materials.
Install in a 3/4-inch capacity drill chuck and tighten securely with a chuck key before operation. Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped or fixtured before drilling to prevent movement. Power down the machine completely before changing or inspecting bits. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous materials to extend bit life and maintain hole quality.
