The HERTEL EG250028 is a single-end ball end mill designed for contour milling, profiling, and 3D surface work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The solid carbide construction provides rigidity and heat resistance that high-speed steel cannot match. At 0.4375 inches in cutting diameter with a 1-inch length of cut and TiCN coating, this tool is built for applications where edge retention and surface finish consistency matter. Four right-hand flutes with right-hand cutting direction deliver smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action across a range of materials and feed rates. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers of this product.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills running materials such as alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials where TiCN coating provides a meaningful advantage over uncoated carbide. The 7/16-inch shank diameter matches common collet sizes and tool holders found in standard milling setups. It is applicable in both production and job-shop environments for die and mold work, slot milling, and complex contour operations requiring a ball-nose geometry.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 7/16-inch shank ball end mill applications in standard ER collets, shrink-fit holders, and side-lock holders used in CNC and manual milling machines. No specific OEM compatibility data was provided for this SKU.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with milling tool setup. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended engagement depth in the collet or tool holder and torque the retention nut or set screw to the tool-holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before use and do not run a chipped or damaged end mill.
