The HERTEL E8053024 is a double-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal, wood, and composite materials. Manufactured from M7 high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tool offers improved wear resistance and longer tool life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. It features a 3/8-inch mill diameter, a 3/4-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with four right-hand spiral flutes. The double-end design extends usable tool life by providing two cutting ends per tool. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this end mill in production and maintenance machining environments.
This end mill is suited for face milling, slotting, profiling, and plunging operations on manual mills and CNC machining centers. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and R8 collet systems common in vertical milling machines. With a 3.5-inch overall length and no extended reach designation, it is best applied to standard-depth workpieces where rigidity is a priority. The TiN coating is appropriate for use on steels, cast iron, and aluminum alloys at elevated surface speeds.
Designed as a standard replacement or production end mill for use in milling machines and machining centers accepting a 3/8-inch round shank via collet or end mill holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or holder. Seat the shank to the recommended engagement depth in the collet to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, and do not exceed the material and speed ratings for M7 HSS tooling.
