The HERTEL E8050040 is a double-end, square-profile end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M7 high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) finish, it carries a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 4-1/2 inch overall length. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This is a centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry directly into a workpiece. Machinists and toolroom operators install this type of end mill on manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and benchtop milling machines.
This end mill fits standard applications in job shops, maintenance toolrooms, and production environments where a reliable HSS general-purpose cutter is needed. The double-end configuration extends tool life by providing two usable cutting ends before the tool is retired. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation suit the majority of conventional milling setups. The TiN coating adds surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, supporting longer tool life compared to uncoated HSS. The regular-length classification makes it suitable for typical depth-of-cut requirements without excessive overhang.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement or stock end mill for manual and CNC milling machines accepting a 5/8 inch collet, end mill holder, or milling chuck.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued according to the machine manufacturer's specification to prevent tool pullout. Inspect the shank and holder bore for chips or burrs before seating the tool. Follow your facility's lockout/tagout procedures before any tooling change on a CNC machining center.
