The HERTEL E8031901 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M7 high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and longer tool life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutter measures 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 3/8 inch shank diameter, giving it a compact profile suited to standard milling chucks and collet holders. Overall length is 2-11/16 inches. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action across a range of feed and speed conditions. This end mill is a single-end, regular-length tool and is not center-cutting.
This end mill is used in vertical milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling on most shop equipment. The 3/8 inch shank fits widely available ER collets and end mill holders. It is suited to production and maintenance machining environments where a reliable HSS cutter with a TiN coating is preferred over carbide for interrupted cuts or flex-prone setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or stock cutting tool for use in standard milling chucks, ER collet systems, and end mill holders accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling professional. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth and torque the retaining nut per the holder specification. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate against the tool manufacturer recommendations for the specific workpiece material before beginning the cut.
