The HERTEL E8031064 is a single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from M7 high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers solid wear resistance and extended tool life compared to uncoated HSS. The cutter measures 1 inch in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 4-1/2-inch overall length. Four spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom professionals on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for peripheral and slot milling applications in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. The 1-inch shank diameter matches standard R8, CAT 40, and similar toolholders commonly found in manual and CNC vertical milling setups. The regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for face milling, shoulder milling, and full-slot cuts where extended reach is not required. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling on most vertical machining equipment.
Designed as a standard 1-inch shank square end mill compatible with toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight shank, including R8 collets, end mill holders, and similar setups on manual and CNC vertical milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state before securing the tool in the holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and that set screws or collet nuts are torqued according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Because this end mill is non-centercutting, use a ramping or helical interpolation entry rather than a direct axial plunge. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against published HSS cutting data for the workpiece material before beginning the cut.
