The HERTEL E8030056 is a two-flute, square-end end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Ground from M7 high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tool delivers extended cutting life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 7/8-inch diameter matches the shank diameter, providing a rigid, straight-shank setup. A 30-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Centercutting geometry allows the tool to plunge directly into the workpiece, making it suitable for slot milling and ramping operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on manual and CNC mills rely on this class of tool for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling.
This end mill is suited for job shops, maintenance machining, and production environments where high speed steel tooling is preferred over carbide — particularly in interrupted cuts or setups where tool deflection is a concern. The regular-length designation and 1-1/2-inch length of cut make it appropriate for shallow to moderate-depth slots and pockets in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use — chipped or worn TiN coating is a reliable indicator of end-of-life for HSS tooling.
