The HERTEL E7050040 is a double-end, two-flute cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations in ferrous and hard-to-machine materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating that extends tool life and reduces friction at the cutting edge. The mill features a 30-degree right-hand spiral flute, centercutting geometry, and a 0.6250-inch diameter with a 1.1250-inch length of cut. It is installed and changed by machinists and toolroom technicians working on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines.

This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling, slotting, profiling, and peripheral cutting in shops handling tool steels, alloy steels, stainless, and similar hard materials where cobalt tooling outperforms standard HSS. The double-end configuration doubles usable tool life per piece. The 5/8-inch shank diameter and 4.5-inch overall length fit standard ER and side-lock toolholders used in most production and job-shop environments. The regular-length profile keeps the setup rigid for interrupted cuts and side milling passes.

Installation Notes

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before running. Do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
