The HERTEL E7030032 is a 2-flute cobalt square end mill designed for material removal and profiling operations on milling machines and machining centers. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS end mills. The TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in abrasive and harder workpiece materials. With a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, 1 inch length of cut, and 3 inch overall length, this is a standard-reach tool suited for general-purpose slotting, side milling, and plunge cutting. The centercutting geometry allows for direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole.
This end mill is intended for use in machine shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The 2-flute configuration provides adequate chip clearance for softer metals such as aluminum and mild steel, as well as some plastics and composites. The 30-degree right-hand spiral helix promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration matches the standard spindle rotation on the vast majority of CNC and manual milling equipment. It is typically installed and run by machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 0.5 inch shank square end mills used in collet chucks, Weldon shank holders, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully powered down and locked before tool changes. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended for the holder type, and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Ensure the collet or holder bore is clean and free of chips or debris prior to seating the tool. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements when operating milling equipment.
