The HERTEL E7030028 is a two-flute, square-end mill ground from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating for extended tool life in demanding cutting applications. At 7/16 inches (0.4375 inches) in diameter with a 13/16 inches (0.8125 inches) length of cut, this tool is well-suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction follow standard milling conventions. Machinists and toolroom operators working in job shops, production environments, or maintenance applications will find this a dependable general-purpose end mill.
This end mill fits standard milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills equipped with a 3/8 inches shank-compatible collet or end mill holder. The regular-length profile and 2-1/2 inches overall length make it practical for everyday milling tasks where extended reach is not required. It performs well in ferrous metals, stainless steels, and other materials where cobalt tooling with TiCN coating provides a clear advantage over standard high-speed steel. Suitable for both roughing and finish passes at appropriate feed and speed parameters.
Designed for use in any milling spindle accepting a 3/8 inches straight shank via collet chuck or end mill holder, on both manual and CNC milling equipment.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention hardware per the holder manufacturer's guidance. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut.
