The HERTEL E5249032 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composite, and hard material applications. With a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle, this tool delivers smooth chip evacuation and consistent surface finishes in both roughing and finishing passes. The bright, uncoated carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention in a wide range of workpiece materials. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into material as well as cut laterally. Machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for 3-axis and multi-axis CNC machining centers as well as manual milling machines where a 0.5 inch shank can be held in a standard collet or end mill holder. The ball nose geometry makes it particularly effective for contouring, 3D profiling, slotting, and die and mold work where a radius at the base of a feature is required. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC setups. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist cooling applied externally is the appropriate cooling method for most operations.
Designed for use in standard 0.5 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Part of the HERTEL HBSC2-CC series of solid carbide ball end mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an appropriate safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended for the holder type, and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
