The HERTEL E499921170 is a square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and plastics. It is manufactured from M42 high speed steel and finished with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating that increases surface hardness and extends tool life in moderate-heat cutting applications. The cutter measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 1.3125-inch length of cut and a 3.75-inch overall length. Two spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation at standard feed and speed parameters. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge milling operations in addition to peripheral cuts.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and toolroom applications where a general-purpose HSS cutter with moderate coating hardness is appropriate. It handles slotting, profiling, and step milling in carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and similar materials at controlled depths of cut. The 5/8-inch shank diameter fits standard R8, ER, and straight-bore tool holders found on most vertical milling machines. It is most commonly installed and operated by machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC setup technicians in job shop and maintenance environments.
Designed as a standard-shank square end mill suitable for use in any 5/8-inch straight-bore, R8 collet, or ER collet tool holder on vertical knee mills, CNC machining centers, and similar milling equipment.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify collet or holder bore is free of chips and properly torqued before operation. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended speed and feed parameters for the workpiece material and depth of cut to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
