The HERTEL E4053032 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention that standard HSS tools cannot match. The 0.5-inch diameter cutting end features four spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating to reduce friction and extend tool life. Both ends are centercutting, allowing plunge cuts as well as peripheral milling. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for profiling, slotting, and pocket milling in medium-to-high production environments.
The E4053032 suits general-purpose milling on vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual knee mills. Its 1-inch length of cut is appropriate for shallow-to-medium depth slots and side milling passes. The regular-length OAL of 4.125 inches keeps deflection low in typical setups. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration make it compatible with conventional CNC and manual spindle rotation. It is suited for job shops, tool rooms, and production floors working with alloy steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where cobalt tooling is specified.
Designed as a standard 0.5-inch shank square end mill compatible with ER, R8, and other common collet systems accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills configured for right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and power locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the drawbar or collet nut to the machine manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use. Feeds, speeds, and depth of cut should be selected based on workpiece material and machine rigidity; refer to the tooling manufacturer's cutting data recommendations.
