The HERTEL E4050032 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations requiring durability and heat resistance beyond standard high-speed steel tooling. Built from M42 cobalt material and finished with a TiN coating, this double-end mill delivers extended tool life in ferrous and tough alloy applications. The 0.5 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 0.8125 inch length of cut and a 30-degree spiral helix to produce efficient chip evacuation and smooth finishes. With two flutes and centercutting capability, it handles both peripheral and plunge milling. Licensed machinists and tool-room operators running knee mills, CNC machining centers, or manual Bridgeport-style equipment are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments working with mild steels, alloy steels, stainless steel, and similar ferrous materials where cobalt tooling is the preferred grade. The 0.5 inch shank diameter matches standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style side-lock holders common across vertical machining centers. The double-end configuration provides a second usable cutting edge, extending the value of each tool before replacement. Overall length of 3.75 inches provides adequate reach for most standard-depth pockets and peripheral passes without excessive tool overhang.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock square end mill for use in any machine tool accepting a 0.5 inch shank, including ER32 or ER40 collet systems and 0.5 inch end mill holders on vertical machining centers and knee mills.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool-room technician. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque the retention screw or collet nut to the holder specification before running. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut for the material being machined to avoid tool breakage.
