The HERTEL E4050014 is a cobalt double-end square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance under heavy cutting conditions. The 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle for efficient chip evacuation. Two spiral flutes and a centercutting geometry allow plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for slotting, profiling, and side milling operations.
This end mill suits general-purpose milling work in job shops, maintenance environments, and production settings where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for toughness and regrind economy. The double-end configuration extends usable tool life by providing two cutting ends per shank. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute orientation is the standard setup for conventional vertical and horizontal milling machines as well as CNC machining centers running standard spindle rotation. The 3/8 inch shank fits ER collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders in that size.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and Weldon-style tool holders on vertical mills, horizontal mills, and CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized collet or end mill holder to the holder manufacturer's recommended engagement depth before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for chips or wear before each use. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting feeds and speeds for cobalt tooling.
