The HERTEL E299921164 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations on ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces. It features a 11/32 inch (0.3438 inch) cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle. The M42 cobalt material grade provides increased red hardness compared to standard high-speed steel, making it well-suited for harder materials and interrupted cuts. This is a single-end, center-cutting tool with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, finished bright and uncoated.
This end mill is used in vertical milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers for slotting, profiling, and plunging operations. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard R8, ER, and side-lock tool holders common in job shop and production environments. The center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. It is commonly used by machinists working with stainless steel, tool steel, cast iron, and nickel-based alloys where cobalt tooling outperforms standard M2 high-speed steel.
Designed as a standard-shank square end mill for use in any milling machine or machining center accepting a 3/8 inch shank tool holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended engagement depth in the holder and torque the retention hardware per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material.
