The HERTEL E299921162 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling ferrous and abrasion-resistant materials on manual mills and CNC machining centers. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers greater heat and wear resistance than standard M2 HSS tooling, making it a reliable choice for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials. The cutter features a 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) mill diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch shank diameter. With four flutes and a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix, it balances material removal rate with surface finish. This is a single-end, bright uncoated tool suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops and production environments.
This end mill is used in face milling, slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling applications. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, adding versatility in multi-operation setups. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional and climb milling on vertical machining centers and knee mills. It is appropriate for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide when toughness against chipping is a priority. The 3-3/4 inch overall length provides sufficient reach for standard depth pockets while maintaining rigidity.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement cobalt square end mill for use in 3/8 inch collets, end mill holders, and set-screw style holders on vertical mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the minimum clamping depth recommended by the holder manufacturer, and confirm runout with a dial indicator before production cuts. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
