The HERTEL E299914113 is a square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in machine shops and manufacturing environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles harder materials and elevated cutting temperatures better than standard HSS tooling. The 4-flute, spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle delivers a balance of chip evacuation and surface finish across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. With a 0.25-inch cutting diameter and a 0.875-inch length of cut, this end mill suits slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling at moderate depths. It is center-cutting, allowing direct plunge entry into a workpiece. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers using standard milling machines or machining centers.
This end mill is suited for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers across both job shop and production floor environments. The 0.375-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets and end mill holders sized for 3/8-inch tooling. The uncoated cobalt construction is appropriate for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where regrindability and cost-effectiveness are priorities. The regular-length geometry and 2.6875-inch overall length keep tool overhang manageable for rigid setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 3/8-inch shank, 1/4-inch diameter square end mill applications in ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders compatible with 3/8-inch shank tooling.
Installation is performed by a machinist using the appropriate collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine tool manufacturer's specification. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Confirm shank seating depth meets the holder manufacturer's minimum engagement requirement. Do not exceed the recommended length-of-cut range of 0.800 to 1.000 inch depth of engagement to avoid tool deflection or breakage.
