The HERTEL E299914112 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in ferrous and hard-to-machine metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this single-end mill features a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) cutting diameter and a 30-degree spiral helix angle that promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The uncoated finish suits applications where re-sharpening is required. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follows industry standard orientation. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople working on vertical milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills.
This end mill is well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations on steel alloys, stainless steel, and other ferrous materials commonly encountered in job shops, maintenance machining, and production environments. The regular-length configuration with a 7/8 inch (0.8750 inch) length of cut fits standard short-reach applications where rigidity is prioritized over extended reach. The 3/8 inch shank diameter is compatible with common collet systems and end mill holders found on most light-duty to mid-range machining equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute square end mill compatible with 3/8 inch collets and end mill holders used on standard vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers requiring a 7/32 inch cutting diameter tool.
Installation and tooling changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an E-stop or locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout requirements. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and verify minimum engagement depth before tightening. Inspect the collet bore and holder taper for chips or wear before each use, as contamination causes runout that shortens tool life. Check manufacturer runout tolerances for the holder being used and do not exceed the rated depth-of-cut for the material being machined.
