The HERTEL E299914094 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers greater heat resistance than standard M2 HSS, making it well suited for harder steels and stainless alloys. The 2-flute spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. At 3/16 inch in diameter with a 1-1/4 inch length of cut and a 3/8 inch shank, this tool fits standard milling chucks and collet holders. It is uncoated and arrives ready to use. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this type of cutter.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge-cutting operations in a manual knee mill or CNC machining center. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard for conventional and climb milling on vertical mills. It is commonly applied in job shops, maintenance machining, and prototype work where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for its toughness and regrindability. The 3-1/16 inch overall length provides adequate clearance for most setups without sacrificing rigidity at this diameter.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool compatible with 3/8 inch collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks used in standard vertical knee mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware per the machine manufacturer specification. Inspect the spindle and holder for runout before beginning any cut. Always set the machine spindle to a stopped, locked-out state before changing tooling in accordance with applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures.
