The HERTEL E299914092 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this two-flute, single-end tool delivers reliable cutting performance in a compact geometry. It features a 30-degree helix spiral flute configuration with right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. At 0.3438 inches in cutting diameter with a 1-inch length of cut, it is sized for slot milling, profiling, and light pocketing on manual mills and CNC machining centers. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose and production milling in job shops, maintenance environments, and manufacturing facilities. The 3/8-inch shank diameter is a common standard for both R8 collets and ER-style toolholding systems found on knee mills and vertical machining centers. The uncoated finish makes it appropriate for use with cutting fluids on a range of workpiece materials. The 2-3/4-inch overall length provides clearance in typical fixture setups without excessive overhang.
Designed for use with standard 3/8-inch collet toolholding systems on vertical knee mills and CNC machining centers. Consult machine and toolholder specifications to confirm runout tolerance and collet compatibility before use.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the collet or toolholder. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the recommended engagement depth and that the collet nut is torqued according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and verify spindle speed and feed rate against published cobalt HSS cutting data for the workpiece material.
