The HERTEL E299914043 is a square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it holds hardness and edge integrity at elevated cutting temperatures better than standard M2 HSS tooling. The cutter measures 1.625 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch shank, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 4.375-inch overall length. Six spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The tool is centercutting, allowing plunge and ramp entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. It ships uncoated and is intended for professional machinists in job shops, production environments, and tool-and-die applications.
This end mill suits roughing and finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for interrupted cuts or flexible setups. The 1.625-inch diameter and 6-flute configuration make it appropriate for full-width slotting at conservative feeds or high-speed peripheral milling at aggressive depths. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool used in standard spindle-direction setups. The regular-length body keeps deflection manageable at the 2-inch depth of cut.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application square end mill compatible with standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-shank holders accepting a 0.75-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before loading or changing the tool. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder to minimize runout and prevent pull-out under cutting loads. Confirm correct spindle direction and feed-per-tooth settings before beginning a cut; running cobalt end mills without adequate coolant or lubrication on ferrous materials will accelerate edge wear.
