The HERTEL E2162064 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. It features a 1-inch cutting diameter with 6 spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, delivering efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action in slots, pockets, and peripheral milling applications. The M42 cobalt material grade provides heat resistance and edge retention under demanding cutting conditions. With a 4-inch length of cut and 6-1/2-inch overall length, this is a long-series end mill suited to deep-feature work. It ships uncoated and is ready to run in standard holders without additional preparation.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines for production and maintenance machining of steel, stainless steel, and other tough alloys. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry as well as conventional ramping and helical interpolation. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard setup for conventional and climb milling on most spindle types. Machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance mechanics working in job shop and industrial environments are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit option for standard 1-inch bore end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style side-lock holders used on vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Use the correct holder bore size and confirm adequate tool stick-out for the intended depth of cut without exceeding recommended overhang ratios. Cutting parameters such as speed, feed, and depth of cut should be selected based on workpiece material, machine rigidity, and coolant availability — refer to the tooling manufacturer or machining handbook for starting recommendations.
