The HERTEL E2080024 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built to M42 cobalt high-speed steel specification, it offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 3/8 inch cutting diameter and 1-1/2 inch length of cut make it well suited to slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling passes in moderate to heavy-duty applications. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The uncoated finish is appropriate for use with cutting fluids or in applications where coating adhesion to the workpiece is a concern. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in job shop and production environments.
The E2080024 is used in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. Its long-series length of cut range of 1.5 to 2.0 inches allows reach into deeper cavities or pockets where standard-length end mills cannot access. The 3/8 inch straight shank fits standard ER collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders. It is appropriate for cutting steel alloys, tool steels, stainless steel, and other materials where cobalt M42 tooling is the specified grade. No specific compatible machine models are named in the product data.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for any milling machine or machining center equipped with a holder accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth before torquing the retention hardware. Verify runout with a test indicator after installation and before initiating a cutting pass.
