The HERTEL E2053056 is a double-end, square-profile cobalt end mill designed for milling ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials in machining centers and manual mills. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance beyond standard M2 HSS tooling. The cutter measures 7/8 inch in diameter with a 1-7/8 inch length of cut and a matching 7/8 inch shank diameter for a direct fit in standard collets and end mill holders. At 6-1/8 inches overall length, the double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between sharpenings. The uncoated finish suits applications where re-sharpening and re-coating are part of the shop workflow.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole, giving machinists flexibility in programming toolpaths. Typical materials include alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other ferrous metals where M42 cobalt maintains cutting edge integrity at elevated temperatures. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in both manual and CNC milling applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for standard 7/8 inch square end mills used in conventional and CNC vertical milling machines accepting 7/8 inch collets or end mill holders.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully powered down and locked. Secure the shank in a collet or end mill holder to the appropriate clamping depth, ensuring the flutes are not contacted by the holder. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures for tool holding torque and rpm limits based on cutter diameter.
