The HERTEL E2053016 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision metal removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention well suited to ferrous metals, stainless steels, and other hard materials. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between replacements. With a 0.25 inch cutting diameter, a 0.625 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix, this end mill produces clean, consistent results in slot milling, profiling, and peripheral cutting applications. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. The uncoated finish makes it straightforward to resharpen when edges dull.
This end mill fits standard vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills equipped with an ER or straight-shank collet accepting a 0.375 inch shank. Its regular length geometry and 3.375 inch overall length make it practical for general-purpose work in job shops, maintenance machining, and production environments. The four-flute design balances chip clearance with surface finish quality, making it appropriate for finishing passes as well as moderate material removal in steel and alloy applications. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cobalt square end mill for standard milling setups accepting a 0.375 inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tools and machine tool safety. Secure the 0.375 inch shank fully in a collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified engagement depth before operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against published cobalt end mill cutting data for the target material before engaging the cut. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping or wear before use, and never operate a visibly damaged tool.
