The HERTEL E2051056 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for metal cutting in milling machines and machining centers. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles tough ferrous alloys and hardened steels that standard HSS tooling cannot manage. The 7/8 inch diameter cutter carries four flutes with a 30-degree helix angle, producing a clean, spiral chip evacuation path. At 6.125 inches overall length with a 1.875 inch length of cut, this tool suits standard bridgeport-style knee mills and CNC verticals. The bright, uncoated finish is typical for cobalt tooling intended for regrinding or use where coating adhesion is not required. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this class of end mill.
This end mill is suited for peripheral and slot milling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials. The double-end configuration provides two cutting ends per tool, extending usable tool life before regrind or replacement. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling setups. The regular length classification makes it a practical choice for general-purpose milling where extended reach is not required and rigidity is preferred. It is not center-cutting, so it is not suited for direct plunge operations without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for cobalt square end mills with a 7/8 inch diameter, 7/8 inch shank, and 1-7/8 inch length of cut in standard milling applications.
Installation is performed by machinists using a compatible collet chuck or end mill holder rated for the 7/8 inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully de-energized and locked out before tool changes. Verify holder runout with a dial indicator before cutting to protect both the tool and the workpiece. Because this tool is not center-cutting, always pre-drill or ramp into the workpiece when plunge entry is required.
