The HERTEL E2051036 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision metal removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this double-end tool delivers increased heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS, making it well suited for machining tougher ferrous materials. The end mill features a 9/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1-3/8 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with spiral flutes that promote efficient chip evacuation. A 5/8 inch shank diameter and 5 inch overall length accommodate standard milling machine and machining center toolholders. Installation and use are handled by machinists and tool-room operators working with manual mills or CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for slotting, peripheral milling, and profiling cuts in ferrous and similar materials where cobalt tooling provides an advantage over standard HSS. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. The regular length classification fits typical production and job-shop milling scenarios where extended reach is not required. It is not center-cutting, so it is intended for side milling and plunge operations that enter from an edge rather than drilling straight down.
Designed as a standard replacement or production-stock square end mill for use in milling machines and CNC machining centers accepting a 5/8 inch straight shank. Fits within the 1.2500 to 1.5000 inch length-of-cut range classification for regular-length cobalt end mills.
End mills should be installed by qualified machinists following proper toolholding torque and runout procedures for the specific collet or chuck system in use. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and toolholder condition before engaging the cut. Cutting fluid selection should match the workpiece material to maximize tool life and surface finish quality.
