The HERTEL E2050064 is a double-end, two-flute square end mill manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel. It carries a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 1-5/8 inch length of cut, and a 5-7/8 inch overall length with a matching 1 inch shank diameter. The 30-degree helix angle and right-hand spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. The bright, uncoated finish makes it well suited to general-purpose milling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials where coating adhesion or heat buildup from harder substrates is not a primary concern. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals typically select this geometry for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations.
This end mill is appropriate for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where a 1 inch shank toolholder or collet chuck is available. The double-end configuration provides a second usable cutting end, extending tool life between replacements. It is suited to production and job-shop environments handling mild steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where cobalt-grade tooling is specified. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed for use in any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 1 inch shank toolholder, collet, or end mill adapter. No specific OEM machine compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per applicable machine guarding and OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is clean and seated fully in the toolholder before tightening to the holder manufacturer's recommended clamping method. Select appropriate cutting parameters, speeds, and feeds for the workpiece material and available spindle power. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping or wear before placing the tool in service.
