The HERTEL E2042904 is a 6-flute cobalt square end mill designed for aggressive material removal and precision milling in demanding shop environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance needed when machining tough ferrous alloys, stainless steels, and hardened materials. The 2-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 2-inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle to balance chip evacuation and cutting efficiency. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flutes are standard. This is a single-end, uncoated tool with centercutting capability, allowing plunge entry as well as peripheral and face milling operations.
This end mill is suited for conventional and CNC milling machines in production and job-shop settings. The 0.75-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and side-lock toolholders common on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The regular-length geometry makes it appropriate for general-purpose profiling, slotting, and pocketing where extended reach is not required. Machinists working with stainless steel, alloy steel, titanium, and other difficult-to-cut materials benefit from the M42 grade cobalt construction, which maintains hardness at elevated cutting temperatures better than standard M2 HSS tools.
Designed as a general-purpose square end mill compatible with standard 3/4-inch shank toolholders on vertical mills, horizontal mills, and CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the 0.75-inch shank with the appropriate collet or side-lock holder, ensuring adequate shank engagement depth to prevent pullout under load. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against manufacturer recommendations for the workpiece material before starting the cut. This tool should be handled and stored with protective packaging to preserve cutting-edge geometry.
