The HERTEL E2039040 is a cobalt square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers greater heat and wear resistance than standard HSS tooling, making it well suited for harder materials and interrupted cuts. The cutter measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and a 3.75-inch overall length. Four spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle evacuate chips efficiently while maintaining a smooth finish along the workpiece. This is a single-end, uncoated tool in a regular length configuration, installed by machinists and CNC operators across job shop and production environments.
This end mill is appropriate for milling slots, pockets, and profiles in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide due to toughness requirements or machine rigidity limitations. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, adding flexibility in secondary operations. The 0.625-inch shank diameter fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders used on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers. Regular-length geometry keeps deflection low in typical depth-of-cut ranges for this diameter class.
Designed as a standard square end mill replacement for 0.625-inch diameter applications in collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders accepting a 0.625-inch shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Secure the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or holder and torque to the tool holder specification before engaging the spindle. Inspect the tool for edge chipping or shank wear before each use. Ensure machine spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance for the diameter class to avoid premature edge failure.
