The HERTEL E2039012 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and high-temperature alloy materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool offers improved heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard M2 HSS end mills. It runs a 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle and arrives uncoated, making it well suited for applications where coolant is used to manage heat. The 0.1875-inch cutting diameter and 0.5-inch length of cut are sized for slotting, peripheral milling, and finishing passes in tight-tolerance workholding setups. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole.
This end mill fits standard machining center and manual milling machine spindles that accept a 0.375-inch straight shank. It is appropriate for job shop, toolroom, and production environments where operators are milling steel, stainless, cast iron, or similar materials at moderate to high cutting speeds. The regular-length configuration keeps the tool stiff and minimizes deflection at depth, which is critical when maintaining sidewall accuracy in slotting operations. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically selects this tool for roughing and finishing passes where a coated carbide tool is not required or preferred.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, and confirm correct spindle rotation direction before engaging the workpiece.
