The HERTEL E2036064 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 1-inch diameter cutter features 4 right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle, producing efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With a 6-inch length of cut and an 8.5-inch overall length, this is an extra-long configuration suited for deep-pocket and extended-reach milling operations. A licensed machinist or toolroom professional typically selects this tool for ferrous and hard-material applications where heat buildup is a concern.
This end mill fits standard machining centers, manual knee mills, and CNC vertical mills accepting a 1-inch straight shank. The extra-long 6-inch length of cut makes it well suited for deep slot milling, side milling, and profiling operations where standard-length tools cannot reach. Right-hand cutting direction is compatible with conventional milling setups. This tool is not center-cutting, so plunge milling is not recommended without a pre-drilled entry point. Typical applications include mold work, die machining, and production milling in steel, stainless, and alloy materials.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or production tooling option for machining setups requiring a 1-inch straight-shank square end mill with a 1-inch shank diameter in standard end mill holders and collet chucks.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the minimum insertion depth marked on the tool or specified by the holder manufacturer to prevent tool pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excess runout accelerates wear and reduces surface finish quality.
