The HERTEL E203303201 is a square-end, single-end cobalt end mill designed for milling operations on a wide range of ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 0.500-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1.500-inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle, delivering efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry are standard. Two flutes and a centercutting design allow this mill to plunge directly into the workpiece. It ships uncoated and ready for use in standard vertical or horizontal milling setups.
This end mill is suited for manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills handling ferrous alloys, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and other tough materials where cobalt tooling is the preferred choice. The 0.500-inch shank diameter fits standard R8, ER, or other common collet systems used in job shops and production environments. With a 3.500-inch overall length, it provides adequate reach for most general-purpose side milling, slotting, and profiling applications without excessive overhang.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or direct-use cobalt square end mill for standard 1/2-inch collet or toolholder systems used in vertical milling, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the collet or toolholder. Verify collet size matches the 0.500-inch shank diameter and that the tool is seated to the correct insertion depth per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Always confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cutting operation.
