The HERTEL E2031904 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling, slotting, and profiling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool delivers heat resistance and edge retention in demanding cutting applications where carbide tooling is not required. The end mill features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 1-3/8-inch length of cut, and a 1/2-inch shank diameter, with an overall length of 3-3/8 inches. The 30-degree helix angle and four spiral flutes promote efficient chip evacuation during extended cuts. This is a single-end, uncoated tool intended for manual or CNC milling operations. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in job shop, production, and maintenance environments.
The HERTEL E2031904 is suited for general-purpose milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other materials compatible with M42 cobalt tooling. The regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for face milling, peripheral milling, and plunge operations where workpiece fixturing allows direct spindle access. The 1/2-inch shank fits standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles sized for that shank diameter. This tool is not centercutting, so ramp or helical entry strategies are recommended rather than direct plunge cuts.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or standard-stock square end mill for milling machines and CNC machining centers equipped with a 1/2-inch collet, end mill holder, or compatible spindle interface.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Power down and lock out the milling machine spindle before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut. Because this end mill is not centercutting, do not program direct axial plunge moves; use ramping or helical entry paths instead.
