The HERTEL E2031024 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in ferrous and high-temperature alloy materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The 3/8 inch cutting diameter and 3/4 inch length of cut make it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations on manual mills and CNC machining centers. The uncoated finish and 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry provide reliable chip evacuation in a wide range of conventional milling setups. This end mill is installed and run by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shop, maintenance, and production environments.
This end mill is used in ferrous metal milling applications including steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys where cobalt tooling outperforms standard HSS. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders common to vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers. The regular-length geometry suits typical through-pocket, slotting, and step-milling operations where extended reach is not required. It is a single-end tool with right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for 3/8 inch end mill holders, ER collet systems, and Weldon-style holders used in vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by a machinist using an appropriate end mill holder or collet chuck sized for a 3/8 inch shank. Ensure the holder and spindle are clean and free of chips before seating the tool. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. This tool is non-centercutting and requires a pre-drilled hole or ramping entry for plunge operations.
