The HERTEL E2030024 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers increased heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The cutter features a 3/8 inch diameter, a 9/16 inch length of cut, and a 2-5/16 inch overall length. With two flutes and a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix, it is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals typically select this geometry for general-purpose roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill fits residential shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The regular-length configuration and 3/8 inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit toolholders with a 3/8 inch bore. It is a single-end tool in a bright, uncoated finish, suited for use with cutting fluid or dry cutting depending on the workpiece material. Typical applications include slot milling, shoulder milling, and contouring in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where cobalt tooling outperforms standard HSS.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill for standard 3/8 inch bore toolholders including ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit holders used in CNC and manual milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured to the recommended gauge-line depth before engaging the workpiece. Verify holder bore cleanliness and shank condition before installation to prevent runout. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements during setup and operation.
