The HERTEL E199921292 is a single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. It measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 3.25 inch overall length. Constructed from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this end mill is suited for applications where coatings are not required or where regrinding is anticipated. The 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With two flutes and a right-hand cutting and flute direction, it handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in a wide range of workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is appropriate for use in manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and toolroom lathes when side milling or slotting operations are needed. The 0.5 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders commonly found in production and jobbing shops. Its center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry into workpiece material without pre-drilling. Typical applications include contouring, step milling, and pocket roughing in mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard toolroom end mill compatible with 1/2 inch end mill holders, ER32 and ER40 collet chucks, and Weldon-style side-lock holders accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and holder clamping force before initiating a cut. High speed steel tooling requires appropriate cutting speeds and feeds for the workpiece material to avoid premature edge wear or thermal damage.
