The HERTEL E1080148 is a single-end, square-profile end mill manufactured from M7 high speed steel. It is designed for milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where sharp corner definition and aggressive material removal are required. The tool features a 1.75-inch cutting diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with right-hand spiral flutes. With two flutes and a centercutting geometry, it can plunge directly into a workpiece as well as perform side and face milling passes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill on manual knee mills and CNC machining centers alike.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose roughing and finishing applications in job shops, production machining environments, and maintenance shops. The 1.25-inch shank diameter accommodates standard collet chucks and end mill holders sized for heavy-duty tooling. The uncoated M7 HSS construction is well matched to lower-speed cuts in alloy steels, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The 5.5-inch overall length provides clearance for deeper setups while the two-flute design keeps chip evacuation efficient in softer materials and slotting applications.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for end mill holders and collet chucks with a 1.25-inch bore, common on knee mills and CNC vertical machining centers accepting heavy-duty end mill tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing or seating the end mill. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder — typically a minimum of one shank diameter — and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Consult machine and toolholder manufacturer specifications for recommended torque on set screws or collet nuts.
