The HERTEL E107006403 is a 2-flute square end mill designed for milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Ground from high speed steel (HSS), this end mill features a 42-degree helix angle and a centercutting geometry, allowing it to plunge directly into workpiece material as well as perform peripheral and slot milling. With a 1.25-inch cutting diameter and a 2-inch length of cut, it handles a range of roughing and semi-finishing applications in general machining environments. The right-hand cutting direction suits standard CNC and manual vertical milling setups. Machinists and tool-and-die shops stock this geometry for its versatility across mild steel, aluminum, and similar materials.
This end mill fits residential shop, production machine shop, and maintenance machining applications where a standard-length, large-diameter HSS end mill is required. The 1.25-inch shank diameter is sized for standard R8, CAT, BT, and direct-fit collet systems commonly found on knee mills and vertical machining centers. The 4.5-inch overall length (OAL) keeps the tool rigid in the spindle while providing clearance for typical fixturing setups. The uncoated HSS construction makes it compatible with re-sharpening services, extending usable tool life in shops that maintain a grinding capability.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-stock square end mill for vertical milling machines and machining centers accepting a 1.25-inch straight shank toolholder or collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before installing or removing the end mill from the toolholder or collet. Use the correct collet size or toolholder bore to match the 1.25-inch shank diameter and torque the drawbar or retention mechanism to the machine manufacturer specification. Confirm tool runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut to avoid premature edge wear or workpiece damage.
